Receive Text UpdatesShe’s always been a fearless competitor across the board in all sports that she’s participated in. I think the competition is the strongest motivator. There’s always someone stronger, quicker, faster and using your brain sometimes is the only advantage to level up! Adversity can also be mental, she’s grown up around a lot of fierce athletes and they can get to you mentally. There’s always the component of balance in maintaining both your academics and developing consistency in your sport too.
I firmly believe that she was originally inspired by Simone Biles and her continuous record setting achievements as well as her decision to take a break and still come back to what she loves to win several more medals. Knowing when to take a break and prioritize your mental and physical well being is imperative as an athlete. I also believe her team over the years has developed her education and athletics winning combination mentality which has influenced her to be who she is.
Wow! There’s so many of them. I’d have to say when Kendall was playing Baseball. Yes, Boys baseball not softball. She refused! She was up to bat and had made several big plays. She fouls the first pitch and the next two were balls. Here comes the 4th and right to the ribs! Ouch! She goes down to one knee, looks back at me with tears in her eyes but takes her base. I wanted to run out and save my little girl. When she came back in she said “It’s ok daddy, I’m fine. There’s no crying in baseball”.
