It drives her to do better every competition and her strong determination strives her to be better in every meet she competes in. Track makes her set goals and achieve them.
Keyani's big brother KJ has inspired her because he used to run track when he was 5 years old. He was very fast for his age. Inspite of having bad migraines, he had to stop his track career at 8 years old due to concussions. KJ's track pictures and medals drive her to keep pushing. Her big brother tells her the ins and outs of the track. Melissa Jefferson is also an inspiration, especially being from the same hometown. Keyani looks up to Melissa Jefferson and wants to be a track star like her.
The one moment that made me proud was in 2022, Keyani made it to Regionals and missed going to Oregon for USATF Nationals. She was disappointed but kept the FAITH. Keyani said "ma, I'm going to make it next year (2023). In 2023, she was #1 in 8u for her state (South Carolina) and made it to Texas for Nationals. She always sets standards and meets them. As of today this is her first year in 9/10 division and is in the top 4 for Regionals. She'll be going to Savannah, GA for Regionals.
