Khaya loves softball because it connects her with new people through every team she joins. It’s her escape—a way to clear her mind, stay focused, and push herself. Each game is a chance to grow, set goals, and chase them down one pitch at a time.
Khaya is inspired by her aunt, who’s played softball her whole life, now coaches, and wears #20—just like Khaya. Coach Ed motivates her to sharpen her mechanics and always give 100%. Her mom inspires her off the field, showing her the power of never giving up and working hard no matter what.
It’s impossible to pick just one moment. What makes me proudest is how Khaya consistently perseveres through adversity, showing deep understanding of the game and staying level-headed no matter the pressure. She makes handling tough plays and bouncing back from failure look effortless, and that quiet strength shines through every time she steps on the field.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
