Receive Text UpdatesWhat I appreciate most about karate is the way it cultivates not only mental and physical discipline but also fosters lasting friendships and a strong sense of community among practitioners. Through my involvement in the AAU, amateur athletic union, I've had the incredible opportunity to travel the world, representing my sport on international stages and connecting with athletes from diverse cultures and backgrounds. I then bring back what I've learned to share with my dojo mates.
All of my Sensei's inspire me, each helping me grow through their guidance, skill, and dedication both on and off the tatami. One stands out the most, my weapons instructor, Edward Nieuzytek. He pushes me to be my best during training and is always there with advice and encouragement, like an older brother. He carries himself with honesty, good sportsmanship and strength. Because of him, I strive every day to become not just a better athlete, but a better person.
There have been countless proud moments in my life as a parent, the day Kiley earned her blackbelt, I'll never forget. Watching her stand there, strong and composed, brought tears to my eyes. The proudest moment though, is witnessing her share her knowledge and life experiences with the younger students, empowering them with the wisdom she has gained over time.
