Landry Papis, aka "The American Pitbull," a nickname given to him by his coaches, greatly appreciates the nature of competition, whether in jiu-jitsu tournaments, superfights, submission cage matches, or boxing matches. He is also fond of sharing his knowledge with younger students who are just beginning their journey. He has expressed his fondness for the sportsmanship and camaraderie he experiences with his opponents. Ultimately,he finds it fun, and that is, after all, what sports is all about!
His father, a retired Marine Corps veteran, provides him with motivation, assists with his workouts, and has consistently offered his support. Coach Eric Graham, his professor, contributes to his training and possesses the knowledge to guide him toward becoming a champion. He mentions that training with Anderson Silva ignited a passion within him. Furthermore, he acknowledges Coach John, who believes in him and recognizes his potential to become a champion someday.
Probably the time we went to Gulf Shores Al, for a NAGA jujitsu tournament and none of his coaches were available to travel to the event. As his dad, I stood in and coached my son to an undefeated tournament and won double gold including his 1st ever Katana sword. That day we were both on cloud 9. Just glad I didn't screw up coaching.
