What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

What I love most about playing basketball is the feeling of being part of something bigger than me. When i’m on the court, especially as the point guard, I’m not just playing for myself I’m playing for his teammates, my coaches, and my school. But more than anything, I love how basketball pushes me to be better—mentally, physically, and emotionally. It teaches discipline, communication, and leadership. It’s taught me how to handle failure, stay humble in success.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

My mom inspires me more than anyone on and off the court because everything I do, I do to honor her. She passed away, but her strength, love, and belief in me are still with me every time I step on the floor. She was the kind of person who always showed up for me, for others, and for everything she cared about. No matter how hard things got, she kept going. That’s the kind of mindset I try to carry into my game,never giving up, always playing with heart, and making the most of every moment.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

The moment that made me proudest was watching my grandchild lead their team to win the 1A State Championship as the starting point guard. Seeing them out there—calm, focused, and in control of the game—was incredible. But what made me truly proud wasn’t just the victory; it was the way they led with maturity, heart, and confidence beyond their years. been through a lot, especially after losing his mom, and yet he never let that break their spirit. If anything, it made him stronger.
