Believing and having the confidence in herself that with her dedication to hard work before the meets she is a top contender that other swimmers know she is someone that will make the race a challenge and very competitive.
Layla gets her inspiration to be the athlete and person she wants to be is when she looks in the mirror and sees who's looking back at her. That person is reminding Layla she's the one that has to put in the dedication, sacrifice and hard work. Layla knows her only obstacle to achieving her dreams is herself. She needs to be her own biggest fan, believe and to achieve these goals is her inspiration.
The proudest moments that reflect Layla's character is at the end of the races. Win or lose Layla will reach across the lane lines and shake hands and congratulate the other competitors on a great race. These are the moments that make you most proud. These gestures showcases the respect Layla has to sportsmanship and her integrity as a person.
