Leland loves sports because he gets to play with friends and build strong bonds through teamwork. Sports teach him how to control his emotions and how to handle pressure along with learning the importance of effort and having a positive attitude everyday. Playing baseball, basketball and football has helped him to grow stronger and overcome challenges in life.
Elly De la Cruz inspires Leland most on the field because of his miraculous plays on the infield and up at the plate. Leland loves the bombs he hits and his crazy diving plays at shortstop that should not be possible. He is a great leader on and off the field and an all star athlete. Off the field his dad inspires him. Dad helps as much as possible to fix mistakes and hires trainers to help him be the best he can be. Leland loves his dad so much!
My proudest moment is seeing the consistency of his heart and hustle - every practice, every game, every season no matter if it’s football, basketball or baseball. Leland plays because he loves to and he always gives his all. He shows up everyday with heart, passion and commitment for sports, school and everything in life.
