Leo loves skateboarding because it gives his brain time to be mindful. Mindful of his surroundings, interactions, and the fact I often skate with him. He loves being able to see measurable progress, make friends in the community, and have a great time.
Leo loves seeing other skaters succeed. He claps for others, and he knows how to clap for himself. He is inspired by locals who also skate. He loves the rapper Yelawolf and was happy Yelawolf signed his board. He is also inspired by the Adidas team who gave him a new board for his 8th birthday.
Watching my child drop in for the first time at age seven without an instructor. I held his hands until he was ready to let go. He now drops in 12 foot bowls on his own. I have guided him, but jt is him who never gave up.
