Family is Leonel's biggest inspiration, especially his parents and grandparents. Since he was burned, he has not had the opportunity to meet his grandparents who live in Angola, Africa. Leonel's dream is to meet them, which is why he works hard every day to become a professional basketball player in the NBA. Then, he can visit and meet his grandparents.
The best moment of his athletic journey was at the Big Time Hoop Basketball Camp, where he led his team to victory by hitting the winning shot after they had been down the whole game. He talked to his teammates in such a positive way that the video of the game went viral on social media with millions of views. Now Leonel has more than 10,000 followers on Instagram.
