What my daughter likes most about running track is that it is not just a competitive sport - it feels like being part of a family. It gives her the opportunity to shine as an individual or contribute as part of a team. She loves the challenge of beating the clock and chasing her personal best. Sprinting is not something she does, it is who she is. It is what she was meant to do.
My daughter is inspired by athletes like TT Terry, Melissa Jefferson, Julien Alfred and Vernon Norwood - not because they can run fast but because of their work ethic and the way they carry themselves on and off the track. They show what it means to be resilient, confident, focus and true leaders. These are some of the qualities that motivates and pushes her towards greatness.
One of the proudest moments in her athletic journey is not tied to just one race but it is about her mindset. No matter how hard things get, she never gives up. She never runs from a challenge but towards it, both literally and figuratively. As a parent it is so incredibly inspiring to watch her transform into a strong , determined young woman and also a dedicated athlete.
