She loves the camaraderie, the sense of belonging to a supportive team, and the spirit of sportsmanship. She enjoys the thrill of competition and the hard work that goes into it.
She is inspired by her ancestors, particularly her grandfather, a Vietnam veteran who fought in both the battlefield and as a cotton picker, fighting for our country. She is also inspired by her family’s heritage, including her great-grandparents who were sharecroppers and marched for civil rights and equality. She hopes to carry on the legacy of swimming in her family. As the first competitive swimmer in the family, she aims to begin this legacy.
That proud moment is when she’s confident in her swimming abilities, works hard, and excells to the competitive level, all while being tenacious. She’s an outgoing and adventurous individual, and I admire her courage and determination in this sport. Despite being only 1% of her race on the team, she fights in every way. I’m thrilled to support her and will do everything I can to help her believe in herself.
