What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Lucas’ favorite sport is football. After excelling at two different positions, he was asked to be the quarterback. This took his passion and dedication to another level! Lucas was now the leader, that represented not only himself and his teammates…but his entire school. He leads with confidence, heart, and respect for each and every player. I cannot imagine being any more proud of him than I already am. With him only being fourteen years old it’s wild to think about…he’s just getting started!!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Lucas has been incredibly blessed to be surrounded by talented and dedicated coaches, and family throughout the years. He also has an amazing group of REALLY GREAT friends/teammates that are constantly pushing each other to succeed. Honestly, I could not have hand selected any better friends for my son. They are not only incredible athletes, but incredible, and respectful teenaged boys! It is truly his (and mine and my husband’s) greatest inspiration and motivation.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

There are SO many amazing moments! I must preface this story by saying that the rule in our house since the sports began (soccer at two and a half years old), is “Get bitter or get better”. Last year at one of his football games, there was an unfortunate snap/catch that ended up about 8 yards behind him. As QB…not so great. Although he could have just fallen on the ball, Lucas had other plans! He scooped the ball up and ran it past/through everyone, for an 84 yard touchdown!! Best. Moment. Ever!
