Lucas fell in love with hockey the first time he attended a game. What draws him in is the sport’s speed, intensity, and nonstop action. The moment he steps onto the ice, he feels free—every stride fills him with joy and excitement. Beyond the game itself, Lucas loves the bond he shares with his teammates, both on and off the ice.
Lucas is inspired by Wayne Gretzky, the legendary hockey player. He even chose #99 for his jersey in honor of him. Lucas admires Gretzky’s exceptional skills, work ethic, and incredible career records. Being a fan of the greatest player in hockey history motivates Lucas to work hard, push himself, and play his best every time he’s on the ice.
I'm proud of Lucas for playing many great hockey games, showing his natural instincts as a defenseman, and contributing to the team with numerous assists. But the moment that makes me proudest was when he stepped onto the ice for the first time as a Mite hockey player. He played hard, scored, and had so much fun with his teammates. In that moment, I knew he had found his sport.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
