Lucia is extremely quiet, always has been. Playing Flag Football has been the one place that she finds her voice. Flag has given her a place to feel confident and accepted. As one of her past coaches said not too long ago, "Her love for the sport is evident in all the hard work she has put into it over the years - her many accomplishments have been earned. Her football IQ is something that elevates teammates and coaches, and the way she cares about what's best for everyone is exemplary."
Josh Allen inspires her on the field because he came out of HS with no offers and made a name for himself. She's a lot like him. She's a great player, yet hasn't been "seen" yet. She wants to work for the NFL when she graduates college, and she wants to play flag in college as well. She reaches out to colleges and coaches and makes video clips of her plays all on her own. She inspires herself just like Josh Allen made it happen for himself; she believes she will make it happen for herself too.
Lucia has strived to be the best, to be recognized by someone for her talents. Her high school didn't have flag. She doesn't have 10,000 followers or an organization that "everyone" knows, so when she got the opportunity to play at the Football Hall of Fame on ESPN in the Flag National Championships--that was the moment--a dream. She's always working for that next "big" thing, that challenges her, and elevates her game. That's what makes me so very proud of her. She will always persevere!
