What she loves the most in her own words is “the way it makes me feel alive” and watching her perform you see focused, fierce passion and you can see exactly what she means. She loves the self expression and confidence that dance and cheer bring out in her. She gets to bring emotion to the spotlight through movement. In cheer, she’s proud to be a source of energy and positivity, lifting others up literally! She loves a challenge and is more resilient and disciplined because of her sports.
Her mother inspires her most, and not just because they share the same birthday, but because she sacrifices daily and leads with her heart. She motivates her to do her best, not just in dance, but everything she pursues. Because of her she learned giving back isn’t something you do just once. She helped her create her own platform, dancing with the seniors, which brings joy and connection to older adults through movement. What makes her inspiring is who she is, selfless and strong.
Having the strength and courage to keep going even in the face of disaster. The day after Hurricane Helen ravaged our community, we were set to drive across the state to compete to qualify for Carolina Dance Masters. We didn’t make it very far because the road was literally gone, but that didn’t stop her. She recorded herself and her routine and sent it in still making finals. Nothing has ever stopped her, she always finds a way to overcome any challenge she faces. This moment made me most proud
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
