What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

It is evident when watching Madelyn ride that she cared deeply for the horse she is riding. Horsemanship isn't just about being the best but also taking care of the horse, you are riding. Madelyn would rather lose a class and take care of her horse. If the horse is scared, not comfortable or feels like it's in a precarious situation, Madelyn senses that. She doesn't just hop on a horse and ride; she spends time earning trust and building a bond.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

It is apparent to anyone that sees Madelyn and her trainer, Hayley, that they have a very strong connection. Hayler has been with her for the last several years. She is the first one to congratulate her on the win or the first to acknowledge the loss and reassure her that, that one ride doesn't define her as a rider.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

In 2023, during warm-up at the Houston rodeo, Madelyn's horse, Jo, spooked, took off and Madelyn got thrown off. She immediately got up, looked for her horse and went over to comfort Jo. She wasn't angry, she wasn't terse, she genuinely wanted to make sure Jo was okay first. It was an embarrassing moment for Madelyn, but her focus was never on her, just Jo... until she realized she hurt her back and had to be taken away by the paramedics.
