What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Softball is often underestimated—much like baseball, requiring a unique combination of strategy, skill, and athleticism. That’s one of the things Maddy enjoys most about the sport, especially using her exceptional speed to make plays and fly around the bases. Although, new to basketball, she fell in love with its fast pace and constant motion, and ultimately led her team to a championship win—an astonishing debut season for someone so new to the sport.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Madysen draws inspiration from several people. Her teammates play a major role—they motivate her to be better, and their healthy competitive relationship pushes her to improve. She also looks up to college softball players Nijaree Canady and Mia Scott. As a pitcher, Madysen especially admires Nijaree’s versatility on the field. Mia’s performance during the Women’s College World Series, even while injured, was truly remarkable and inspiring.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

As a passionate player, Madysen often wore her emotions on her sleeve. But heading into the spring season, she made a conscious decision to shift her focus — not on personal success, but on how her actions impact the team. She chose to lead with encouragement, using her voice to lift up her teammates. Playing on a 10u team that competed up in the 12u division, Madysen displayed great maturity, growth, and leadership throughout the season.
