Makayla loves the thrill of learning new moves and the excitement of mastering them. Landing her jumps gives her a huge sense of accomplishment and motivates her to keep pushing herself. She enjoys the challenge, the progress she makes, and the joy that skating brings every time she steps on the ice.
Makayla is inspired by the advanced skaters she’s watched at the rink since she first began, pushing her to challenge herself and improve. Her coach, who has been by her side since the start, also inspires her by encouraging her to reach her full potential every step of the way.
One of the proudest moments was when Makayla forgot her solo mid-competition but bravely returned the next day to compete again. She even made herself a T-shirt that said “I will never give up”. Seeing her resilience and determination brought tears to my eyes — and just a year later, she qualified for Provincials.
