She loves the commitment she makes and learning new skills both on and off the mat. Teamwork and tumbling can be applied anywhere and she knows that the journey is ongoing season to season.
Makena is inspired by her coaches and all the life lessons they have gotten from cheer. She admires the adversity this sport has given them in so many ways and how they continue to grow from it with all the challenges life gives them- they know through cheer, to keep going.
Makena had her brother diagnosed with T1 diabetes the same time I was diagnosed with a brain tumor and she had to switch gyms after winning Cheersport Atlanta that season but she did it with grace abs empathy and no complaining and pushed on. Most kids would have been overwhelmed but she threw herself into cheer.
