Receive Text UpdatesMalcolm, paralyzed from a spinal cord tumor at 14 months, finds freedom and equality through sports. Swimming puts him on equal ground with peers, while wheelchair basketball gives him speed, competition, and joy. Adaptive sports level the field, letting him shine not for what he lacks, but for his skill and heart. In sports, he’s not limited—he’s empowered.
Malcolm is inspired by the determination of athletes chasing their dreams, not just one person. He admires both Paralympic and Olympic swimmers for their hard work. Though paralyzed, he has big goals too. His first adaptive sports coach continues to inspire and support him, always pushing him to be his best. He also has the best cheerleader and support from his twin sister, who loves and supports him on and off the court and in and out of the pool!
Though paralyzed, Malcolm faces every challenge head-on—athletic or otherwise. My proudest moment was during his second Para triathlon, when he flipped his handcycle chasing another athlete. I thought his race was over, but he got up, pushed hard, and finished just seconds behind first place. His determination in that moment showed the strength he carries through every part of life. No matter the obstacle, Malcolm always pushes forward and never gives up.
