Malia loves Brazilian Jiu Jitsu because, to her, it’s more than just a sport — it’s a way of life. She believes Jiu Jitsu empowers women and young girls & boys by giving them the tools and confidence to walk through the world knowing they can defend themselves. Beyond the physical skills, Jiu Jitsu instills a deep sense of confidence, discipline, and personal accomplishment that carries over into all areas of life. BJJ brings a sense of community and lasting friendships.
Malia is deeply inspired by her coaches, who demonstrate what true leadership looks like through their dedication, discipline, and encouragement. They show her every day that hard work, consistency, and a positive attitude lead to success both on and off the mats. For Malia, each competition is a chance to test herself, improve, and build resilience. She knows that continuing to show up, regardless of the outcome, is what truly shapes her both as an athlete and as a person.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
