Malia: "What I love most about figure skating is the feeling of freedom and expression. The ice is where I clear my mind and feel completely present. It’s where I go to feel most like myself. I love pushing my limits, telling a story through movement, and growing through every session. Working hard through ups and downs together with coaches and teammates every day creates a bond that is just like family, and is a big reason why I love the sport so much."
Malia: "My mom inspires me with her strength, support, constant belief in me, and through all the sacrifices she's made for me. She’s always been by my side through every challenge, reminding me to stay strong and keep going. On the ice, I’m inspired by my teammates who push me to be better and make training fun, even on hard days. My coaches guide me, believe in me, and have helped shape the skater and person I am today."
Mom: "There is no single moment, but rather many: despite the culmination of all the setbacks, extensive travel, sacrifices, injuries, and many other challenges she has faced on this journey, her passion for skating has never waned; it has only grown stronger. She is the epitome of resilience: rising after every fall with grace, determination and faith, never bitter and always kind to everyone. Witnessing her growth into a strong, confident yet humble young woman inspires me deeply every day."
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
