What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Marcos is a calm competitor — focused, never rattled. He loves that Jiu-Jitsu lets him think while he moves. Each match feels like a puzzle, and he talks to himself on the mat to figure it out. He’s drawn to problem-solving — whether it’s LEGO, math, or rolling through a tough position. He doesn’t show much emotion when he competes, which helps him see patterns others miss. And he loves that he gets to train barefoot with friends and siblings.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Marcos is inspired by the people who believed in him long before the medals — especially his coaches, who saw his focus early on and made him feel like he belonged. His biggest inspiration is his older brother, who trained before Marcos even started and is still his main training partner. Off the mat, Marcos follows master LEGO builders and inventors who turn small pieces into big ideas — he’s drawn to anyone who creates with patience and vision, just like in Jiu-Jitsu.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

One of the proudest moments wasn’t a gold medal — it was watching Marcos stay calm during a tough match where he was behind on points. He didn’t panic or give up. He adjusted, stayed focused, and came back to win in the final seconds. That moment showed who he really is: composed, smart, and unshakable under pressure. He didn’t just win — he earned it.
