What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Marcus loves trying to hit homers by finding the sweet spot on the bat to get that pop! Thrill of stealing bases including home. Football it’s the rush of passing by all the defenders and leaping into the air to snatch the football into the end zone. For soccer he enjoyed the epic 1 on 1 battles defending his goalie. 5 blue ribbons in track - he said he didn’t know how much fun it was to run neck and neck in tight races! Best of all being part of a team and hanging w/friends!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Elly De La Cruz inspires him—not just for his elite athleticism, but for the pure joy and passion he brings to every game. He also admires Justin Jefferson, especially for his legendary one-handed catch against the Bills. He looks up to those who dominate their roles, including his highly competitive, sports-loving mom. And he’s incredibly fortunate to be coached by former MLB pitcher Jean Machi, whose experience and dedication continue to motivate and guide him.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

It was a moment to remember—Marcus caught a deep fly ball in centerfield and, without hesitation, launched a laser to home. The throw tailed just slightly right of the plate—perfectly placed for the catcher to sweep the tag on the runner who had tagged up. The crowd erupted. Coaches, parents, and even the ump were stunned. It felt like watching a mini Elly De La Cruz in action. A jaw-dropping double play that left us speechless. I still replay it in my head. It was that good.
