MarShon loves to be part of a team. He knows there is no 'I' in team, and he enjoys helping others to win! Playing sports is theraputic for him, helping him tremendously after his brother and sister died. He strives for excellence in everything he does, and loves being a leader and a great teammate.
MarShon is most inspired by God, and his nephew, Winston--the son of his sister who passed. Winston is now four, and MarShon works hard to be a great uncle, role model, and friend to him. He loves to see Winston sitting front row at a game, cheering for him and yelling his name. He has vowed to be the best example to Winston he can be, and show him that your character is not determined by your circumstances! He also works hard to represent his family name and his ancestors!
There are many moments that make me smile when I think of how sports shapes my son's character. From teaching new players how to shoot, to always making sure everyone gets involved, I am amazed how he embraces his role of being a point guard so seriously, leading on and off the court. I think one of my most proudest moments is him recognizing how to handle girls who play, even if they trash talk. He remembers that he should treat them the way he treats his mom and sisters--WITH RESPECT.
