In a championship game last season, Mary Ella was tagged in the face mask of her helmet on a slide forcing the metal face mask up into her mouth. We didn’t know it at the time but she potentially cracked a tooth at the root and had a huge busted up lip. She was carried off the field and sat out for one inning. But she knew her team needed her and finished out the game- catching a pop fly and making two outs in the following inning- helping to win the championship game. She never gives up. Ever.
