What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Mateo loves most about playing sports is the lifelong friendships, whether they are teammates or on opposing teams. He encourages his friends by pushing them and strive for their own successes meanwhile enhancing his team. He enjoys the thrill, whether on hockey or in baseball. The pressure to give it your all, win or lose. He enjoys the challenge and exposure to new scenarios during the game and evaluates ways to make his game strategy and approach better, ultimately enhancing his performance.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Mateo's story is inspirational, he is a self-taught, self-learned overall player. He taught himself how to skate, play hockey, becoming an extraordinary batter and has become a AA hockey player and AA baseball player. Watching countless of youtube videos, learning how to make the plays and trying them by getting out and taking the risk in trying something new. He inspires himself on and off the field due to his ambition and initiative for sports. He looks up to Nikita Kucherov and Jarren Duran

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Since the moment he learned to skate at the age of 2 during public skates at our local ice rink, to the first time he made the rep hockey team at the age of 6, and now making major hockey. From the first moment he stepped onto the baseball field and hit the ball out of the field. Overcoming bullying, donating his hair for cancer, I am proud every single time. He is such an extraordinary athletic young man who truly is inspiring, determined and puts his heart and soul into his sports.
