Matthew positions are 1B, OF, and LHP. He plays on three different baseball teams. His GPA is 3.7 has a 9th grader.

“What I love most about playing baseball is the sense of freedom and excitement I feel every time I’m on the field. I enjoy challenging myself to get better and pushing my limits, but I also love the friendships I’ve built with my teammates. We push each other, celebrate wins together, and pick each other up after tough games. The competition makes me better, but the fun and connection I have while playing is what keeps me coming back. It’s more than just a game for me—it’s built my confidence!
The person who inspires me most on and off the baseball field is my grandmother. She has raised me since I was little, and she has always been my biggest supporter. Even though she doesn’t know as much about baseball as some people, she never misses a game. She cheers me on from the stands and always reminds me to keep my head up no matter what happens. Her belief in me gives me confidence, especially on tough days. Because of my grandmother’s love and guidance, I strive to be the best I can be.
The one moment in my athletic journey that I am proud of is, in one game all bases were loaded and it was up to bat swung at the first pitch. It my first Grand Slam! We won the game!
