Thank you for generously supporting Matthew in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
He takes pride in the toughness he is recognized for. He appreciates that his adversaries are intimidated by him, whether he is in possession of the ball or aiming to tackle an opponent with it. He understands that they must strategize and be aware of his position on the field during the game. Additionally, he enjoys assisting his teammates in their growth and understanding of the game to elevate their performance.
On the field, he draws inspiration from NFL Linebacker Ray Lewis and Running Back Eddie George. Lewis was feared in the secondary, while George would tattoo you if you got in his way. They excel in their respective positions and would compete against each other like two gladiators. Their mutual respect and the intense competition they brought to the game are noteworthy. On the field, they were giants among their peers, yet off the field, they share a deep and respectful friendship.
Matthew has been a member of a team that secured two AAYFDT (All American Youth Football and Drill Team) Championships in Texas. During his first championship, I was moved to tears, recognizing the effort he put in to reach this level. For the second championship, we both shed tears as the head coach delivered a speech that celebrated Matthew, highlighting his pivotal role in causing a hit and recovering the fumble in the final moments, which clinched the championship victory.
