Through her participation, she aims to introduce more girls to this amazing sport and help it flourish.
Melody has been wrestling for nearly five years. When she first started in 4th grade she was the only female wrestler on the team. As a high-functioning autistic individual, she faced unique challenges, requiring her to dig deep for inspiration in a male-dominated sport. At that time, female wrestling was just beginning to gain sanctioning in the state, and there weren't many girls participating. Melody draws inspiration from notable wrestlers like Olivia Shore, Miron Kharchilava, & Ava Miller.
Melody's proudest accomplishment is winning the league championship in her division three years in a row. She was the first girl at her school to achieve this remarkable feat at the youth level. Beyond her personal victories, Melody consistently makes us proud by embodying excellent sportsmanship, empowering others, and striving to be a role model both on and off the mat. In a world often focused on negativity, Melody chooses to spread light and positivity.
