What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Mia loves sports because of the relationships she has developed. She loves competition. Mia embraces challenge & loves the overall sports journey. Mia’s best moments show themselves when she’s competing. Even though she’s a fierce competitor, Mia has compassion and respect for her opponents. An aggressive and bold competitor who, when the whistle blows and the game is over, is the first person to help an opponent or be a shoulder to lean on. Mia thrives on making the people around her better.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

On the field Mia is inspired by her two older sisters. She has been chasing them since she was born & gives them a lot of credit for the athlete she has become. Without her two sisters providing the map and keys, Mia wouldn’t be where she is today. Off the field Mia is inspired by her mother. Mia is inspired by Mom because she gets to see first hand how much Mom accomplishes. Mom is raising 5 children all while teaching and coaching. Mia credits her fierce work ethic to trying to emulate Mom.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Our proudest moment in Mia’s journey didn’t come from a win, or a championship, or an accolade. Our proudest moments are from watching Mia play basketball in her town league where the skill level widely varies. Mia’s biggest concern each week was finding ways to run the offense and create opportunities for the other girls on the team to score. It was impressive to hear her talk about how her priority was to distribute the basketball so every teammate can score.
