Miia says she feels the most joy when she’s on the field playing soccer. She expresses that she loves scoring goals the most but having a team to be a part of to grow with and encourage each other on and off the field is another favourite part. She really loves her Nationals team. They are a tight group of players. Miia also loves travelling and experiencing the tough competition that helps mold her into a better player.
Her coach Anthony has been on her soccer journey with her since she was 7. He has been her mentor, motivator and a steady presence on the field. He is patient and dedicated and she says he always pushes her to be her best and helps her turn mistakes into lessons. She expresses that her mom (me 👋) has also been her inspiration. Always building her up, keeping her calm, and giving her opportunities to grow as a player through camps and programs outside of her team and league.
Miias team was playing in the championship game in a futsal tournament. It was a very intense and physical game. They were up against a highly skilled and ranked team. The entire team was giving it all they had every second they were on the court. The score board was tight the whole game and with just 18 seconds left in the last half - in a tied game, Miia put the ball to the back of the net, scoring the final and winning goal and earning the team the championship. Unforgettable moment!
