Wrestling has taught her to be competitive while respectful of her opponents, taught her to keep it on the mat, and made her more humble. It’s a physical sport, but also very mental. Some of her strongest opponents became her best friends. It has also given her the self-confidence and the self-discipline.
Coach K who saw something in her while she was playing an unfamiliar sport. He persuaded her to try out wrestling & to see how she would like it. Coach K even went as far as talking us (parents) to allow & to persuade her into trying it out. When she gave it a go, there was no turning back. Coach K & the coaches worked with her continuously to see her succeed both on & off the mat. She gives much praise & respect to the coaches who believed in her when she truly didn’t believe in herself before.
Overcoming the adversity with being a female who wrestles and who has wrestled the opposite sex. While achieving some of her personal best and working towards her goals to compete at different State levels and beyond.
