Mykah loves that being a black belt in karate shows how hard he worked. He says helping the younger kids in class is one of the best parts. When he was a white belt, he looked up to the black belts. Now he gets to be that person for someone else. He can teach them moves, show them respect, and help them feel confident. But the best part is the way it makes me feel inside—strong, brave, and respectful.
Mykahs inspiration is his Sensei Vince. He works hard to build a community in and out of the dojo. He organizes community events for the township, donations such as Heart of Zentai, toys for tots ect. Vince is committed to each child's success. Mykah has always looked up to Vince and says he wants to help the world like his Sensei.
My proudest moment was watching my son earn his black belt. Seeing him stand tall in front of his instructors, with focus and determination in his eyes, brought tears to mine. I’ve seen all the hard work behind the scenes, every moment he wanted to quit but didn’t. He stayed committed, showed respect, and grew not just as a martial artist, but as a person. When they tied that black belt around his waist, it felt like a celebration of his strength, his heart and his discipline.
