Nellie loves playing lacrosse for the team aspect. She is surrounded by her ‘people’ who work together for a common goal. When some view the position as stagnant and staying in the crease, Nellie has created a dynamic role where she is vocal, directs her defense, acts as a defensive field player and contributes to team morale.
Danika on her club team, Tessa (now on a high school goal that she watched during her youth league), both of the college goalies: Yale and UNE Maine (where she hopes to go!) These female individuals have given her role models to watch in real time to aspire to be. Also any of her coaches that have left lasting impacts on her-Coaches: Meyran, Ellis, Weiland, AJ, Joe, Lindsay, Climie, Erica, Sobo, Liguori, Allie, Cailen, and Brooke.
Watching Nellie act as an ‘on the field coach/play navigator ’ are the proudest parenting moments for us. We know that being a teenager is hard- leading/directing your peers or offering feedback is intimidating. Nellie does so gracefully: in a way that encourages her teammates but also elicits results on the field, in real time.
