Thank you for generously supporting Nicholai in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
He loves the competition, the camaraderie he gets with his teammates from spending so much time together, he loves pushing himself mentally and physically, and of course he loves scoring goals, and stopping the other team from scoring!
His hockey idols are Connor McDavid who is the team captain for his favorite team - the Edmonton Oilers, because he's the best all-around hockey player there is and a good person off-ice also. He also looks up to Connor Bedard as a young up and coming hockey player in the NHL from Canada also. He also looks up to Tom Brady as an athlete because he talks a lot about not always being the biggest kid, but always being the hardest worker there is.
Last year he stepped outside his comfort zone of playing for the local minor hockey league and tried out for, and got a spot on an elite-level team through a private league, where he knew absolutely no one, but knew it was a big step forward for himself developmentally. He did really well on that team and now some of his best friends are teammates from that team. He continues to push himself through the off season now, going to the gym for 5:30am workouts (with me, his mom) to prepare for next
