What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Owen is very confident and he loves a good challenge. One of the reasons he loves baseball so much is that every time he steps on that pitcher's mound or into the batter's box, he has the opportunity to showcase his talent and hard work. While it is certainly a team sport and he is absolutely a team player, he enjoys the spotlight of baseball that isn't always present in other team sports. Many would be nervous or anxious with the pressure of those positions, but he loves it!

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Owen's inspiration is Aaron Judge, for both the obvious and less evident reasons. He is certainly inspired by his incredible talent and all that he has accomplished in his MLB career, but Owen also recognizes some of the challenges that Judge has had to face throughout his life, including being biracial and adopted, and how he has overcome injuries. He is primarily inspired by Judge's work ethic, his commitment to his faith and how he is a man of great character.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

In 2024, Owen's 11U All-Star team made it to the state finals. In the semi-final game, Owen showed up for his team, and showed an incredible amount of mental and emotional strength, by hitting his first-ever out of the park home run AND pitching a no-hitter. Many adults would crack under the pressure that he was facing, but he handled it with poise and grace. He accomplished this all while being supportive and engaged in his teammates' performance as well.
