What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Parker loves the game of leveling up in all aspects of sport karate. Whether it’s conditioning, practicing forms, tricking, stretching, endurance work, learning new skills, or perfecting something he’s had for awhile, you’ll always find him pushing himself. Most nights of the week he’s at the dojo between 6-7 hours a night and he would likely stay longer if I let him.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Parker’s main instructor, Mr. William Canonizado has been an inspiration for him as well as his son Mr. Mark Canonizado. Parker hopes to make it into the stunting/entertainment industry, which is the same path Mr. Mark has taken. He’s also a very well-rounded martial artist, which is something Parker strives for. Parker is surrounded by talent at his dojo, so there’s really no shortage of inspiration around him. I think he’s pulled pieces of many and put them together in his own way.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

He just won his first ATA world title, which was a goal of his that he met that we’re really proud of. But more than that, whether it’s practice or competition, his genuine love for this sport is evident, and that’s what I love most. At the same time, his love for others in this sport and even their success makes me very proud too. The way he gets so excited to see someone getting something new (even if it’s his competitor) just makes me so proud of his heart and not only his accomplishments.
