She loves that every race is different and you never know what you’re going to get or what type of races your competitors will run. It’s always a challenge.
Her club coach, Ricky Fields, is an inspiration. She shared that he mirrors her family values of faith, family, and community. He has high expectations from her not only athletically, but academically and spiritually and challenges her to be the best version of herself on and off the track while not “fussing” like a parent.
She had been under a lot of pressure during the most recent school track season. Many doubted her abilities and said she wouldn’t do well. However, she persevered and make it through districts and regionals to qualify for states in the 800 meter open. Going from a sprinter in the previous track season, running the 100m, 200m, and 400m races, to a distance runner in the 800 the following season wasn’t easy but she pushed her way through every challenge and every race all while remaining humble.
Colossal is a nationally registered professional fundraiser that inspires people to advocate for themselves and those in need. Through online competitions like Youth Athlete of the Year, Colossal offers participants the opportunity to make their mark while also making a big impact.
