I chose to play hockey because we had a local hockey team (Topeka Pilots) and I loved going to see the games. My parents let me try to play when I was 5 and I fell in love with the game. I love skating and learning how to stick handle and do slapshots. I like fist bumping my teammates to support them and the overall feel of being on the ice playing and doing my best.
Connor McDavid inspires me because he is one of the greatest players in hockey besides Wayne Gretzky. He is very skilled and makes it look easy when he is making goals. I like to watch him on TV and then practice and try to replicate his moves when I’m practicing on my rollerblades in my driveway.
One of my proudest moments playing hockey was when my team won the league championship for our PeeWee Silver team. We worked really hard together and I pushed myself to do my very best. It was a new team for everyone and we worked together for the win! It was a very proud moment for me!
