What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

He loves the exercise, the physical growth that comes from it. That being able to look back and see how far you have came. The seconds off your lap time, the catches made on the field, and the improvement in his swing. He also loves the team building and growth that comes with playing baseball. How you have to work together, how the team grows together and learns from each other. The cheers from the dug out when you get a hit and yells from the stands.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Randy has an amazing great Uncle Tony who has been his biggest inspiration. Tony has a love for running and is currently training for the Boston Marthon. When he heard Randy wanted to join the swim team he took him under his wing to train him. They have spent countless hours in the past year swimming, running and weight lifting together. All their hard work shows in the pool and on the baseball field but most importantly it is the love and a new found bond between them that shows the most.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

My proudest moment was Randy's first at bat post transplant. It was not because he hit a home or even an RBI. In fact he grounded out on that first at bat, and only played two endings of the game. The reason I was so proud was because in the moment I was watching him live. Earlier that year when was Randy diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia his first concern was if he was going to get to tryout for middle school baseball. Watching him at bat was a victory against Aplastic Anemia.
