He loves the competition,win or lose. Even though his team isn’t the strongest, he shows up every game ready to give his all and showcase his skills. He never speaks negatively or gets discouraged. His love for the sport is genuine. If he could play year-round, he absolutely would, it’s where he feels most alive.
When I asked my son what keeps him going, he simply said, “You, Mom.” He told me, “You didn’t give up after being diagnosed with breast cancer, so what do I look like giving up just because something doesn’t go my way?” His strength mirrors mine, and hearing that reminded me just how much we inspire each other.
I admire how my son never lets the doubters define him. Every game, there’s always someone who underestimates him because of his size—he’s literally the smallest corner on the field. But what they don’t see coming is the heart of a lion behind that frame. Once the play starts, it’s clear: he’s not just good, he’s the best. And through it all, he remains humble, always uplifting his teammates and even teaching them the special moves that set him apart.
