As a long distance swimmer, Katie Ledecky as the G.O.A.T. is her inspiration in the pool! After reading her book “Just Add Water”, Katie Ledecky is her inspiration outside the pool too! Reilly cited the many similarities between their swim journeys! Both having Czech family name, both have had broken arms in grade school, both swam mile for first time at age 11…. And the list goes on. To motivate herself in a race she will often pretend the swimmer in the next lane is Katie Ledecky!
While she has had many PRs that make me proud, it is the times she rushes to help her teammates that make me proudest. Recently I was so proud to see her stand up for one of her teammates when someone else was being less than kind about being too slow on a relay. Even when it’s hard, Reilly will be the first to call out someone for being unkind to a teammate. Her integrity is going to help her go the distance in swimming!
