Thank you for generously supporting RJ in this year’s competition. Your support helps empower the V Foundation for Cancer Research and the Why Not You Foundation in their respective missions to save lives and empower today's youth to become tomorrow's leaders.
RJ loves being a part of the team and contributing to his team’s success. He said sports has taught him discipline, consistency, resilience and how to never give up. He’s learning to apply lessons from basketball to real life. He loves that there is always room to get better in sports. He’s learned to appreciate constructive criticism.
RJ stated his family inspires him because they provide everything he needs to play the sports he loves. God inspires Him because He gave him the talent, limbs and ability to play the sports he loves. His favorite point guard is Steph Curry because of how he directs the floor and moves all the time without the ball.
RJ broke his wrist at the start of basketball season last year. He was heartbroken because he absolutely loves the game, but he was there every game cheering for and encouraging his teammates. He finally was able to return but had to work his way back up. Every time he was in the game, he was determined to be better. He worked hard on and off the court. They made it to the metro championship and won! He went from an injury to receiving the all metro tournament award. He cried tears of joy!!
