Join the CompetitionWhat Ryland loves most about playing basketball is the feeling of freedom he gets on the court. He can truly be himself there, he can be energetic, he can be confident, and most of all he can be competitive.
After Ryland lost his 3-month-old brother to a rare disease and facing bullying, basketball became Ryland’s way to heal. It’s where he finds happiness, confidence, and purpose. On the court, he rises above the pain and proves that nothing can take away his heart, his drive, or his love for the game of basketball.
One moment that makes me the proudest is when Ryland got knocked down during a tough game physically and emotionally, but he got right back up and kept playing with everything he had. He didn’t complain or lose focus. Instead, he led by example, showed true heart, and proved what it means to never give up. In that moment, I saw more than just an athlete I saw the character he’s building through this game.
