You decide who will be named Youth Athlete of the Year, featured in a 3BRAND ad in Sports Illustrated, and take home $25,000
I think she likes the challenge, the goals she sets, the competition, race day, traveling to different areas, achieving personal bests and running consistent times.
I think the person that inspires her the most on and off the track would be me. I believe I am her inspiration because she understands that I support and encourage her (from attending her practices, all her meets, getting her a trainer, investing in equipment and post work out nutriments) and I also ran track, the same distances she completes in now. She knows that I also love this sport.
I think this year, transitioning to high school, competing for PSAL instead of her club team, has been the most eye opening experience. It is now that the season is over that I can understand and admire just how resilient my daughter is. She has overcome a lot- stomach virus, being a new kid on a talented team. She had to find her place, keep her head up, continue training. She was no longer the oldest or the fastest on a club team. She was a freshman, one of a few, with older athletes.
