Saraya loves everything about the sport—networking and opportunities to connect with other talented athletes to the discipline it demands. She prides in encouraging teammates who may be more reserved and thrives on the competitive spirit brought by strong opponents. Committed to improving in all aspects, she approaches her development holistically—whether it’s through workouts, film, stretching, rest, or building strong team relationships.
Saraya has several inspirational factors that keep her grounded and determined. Her Father- who was tragically taken due to gun violence one week before her 6th birthday is at the top of the list for her. Through constant dedication to him, she is reminded why every game, every practice and every minute counts. She is very intentional with putting God first, and daily inspiration from her family of Military roots.
My proudest moment would have to be when she was told to play a position she was completely unfamiliar with and with her height, is usually unheard of. Saraya took the challenge head on and succeeded. That moment opened her eyes to the plethora of opportunities, she used that scenario to adapt the “All challenges accepted” mindset- this was not coached, this was not taught- she came up with that and utilized it- aiding in being an 8th grader on Varsity and All Conference selected!
