What do they love most about playing their sport(s)?

Selena loves helping others. Whether it be how to correct a mistake, giving them something they need but forgot, or cleaning up the field. She’s always willing to help her team. She loves pitching! It makes her the most nerve wracked, but she loves striking out the other team. She also loves batting. She says it helps get out frustration. She once hit 8 foul balls in a row off of a pitcher that her teammates were struggling to hit off of before the umpire got tired of calling foul.

Who inspires them—on or off the field—and why?

Selena loves Softball, and is always ready for a game! It’s what keeps her dedicated to the sport. She’s most inspire on the field by the people at the game. Her teammates, coaches, and fans know how to keep encouraging her no matter what and bring her mood back up if she has a bad play. Off the field she’s inspired by watching the high school girls play and college softball on tv. She learns a lot by watching older girls. She’d like to attend a professional softball game soon.

What’s one moment in their athletic journey that makes you proudest?

Just watching Selena grow in her abilities over the past 8 years has made me proud of her. But what makes me proudest is her dedication to helping her younger or new teammates grow their abilities too. She’s always trying to help others improve their techniques and cheering them on when they have a good or bad play. She’s always there to pick others on the team up and encourage them to get back out there and not give up. She’s kind, caring, and helpful in all aspects on and off the field.
