Join the CompetitionChallenging herself on reading a hitter on the other side of the net on where they are hitting to and getting there before the ball does. She loves being responsible for setting up her hitters to make the biggest play on the court. She loves being underestimated and proving others wrong, but most of all, she love her team and being able to enjoy the game she loves with them.
On the court it's definitely her teammates. The push that they give each other at every practice is unmatched. At 12yrs old, some will stay after practice and go get in some extra work with the 17yr olds for another hour just to get some extra reps in against harder competition. The work ethic is crazy for their age. Off the court, I would say would be her mother. She is a volleyball coach and has had Serenity around the game and in the gym since she was born. She's her biggest supporter.
Theres a video circulating around where just recently at the National Championship Tournament, the referee that was overseeing her game made it a point to come over to her and congratulate her on the awesome job she displayed during her game and they made their way over to us to continue that conversation. But, the humble look she had, mixed with the excitement of being recognized for her talent amongst every other kid there is what did it for us.
